Prof. Arian van Asten - Programme Director Forensic Science

The fact that the Master's in Forensic Science (MFS) attracts a lot of international students indicates the high quality of the programme. The Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) is strongly involved in the programme and several NFI, police and judicial experts teach in the curriculum, providing a strong link to forensic practice. With my experience and network, both in the criminal justice system and the scientific community, I think I can really contribute to further improving the MFS. Ideally, the MFS programme is an essential factor in maintaining forensic expertise in the Dutch criminal justice system by educating the next generation of talented forensic scientists, experts, and advisors.

Yorike Hartman PhD, Programme Coordinator Forensic Science

I’m the programme coordinator of the Master’s in Forensic Science. For me, forensic science is about disciplinary scientific knowledge and crossing borders and building bridges between different scientific disciplines, science and the forensic field, and between the partners of the forensic process. This context makes for a demanding programme for students and teachers alike.

August de Heij, Study Adviser Forensic Science

I work as a study adviser for the Master's programme in Forensic Science and two interdisciplinary Bachelor's programmes. My work is very diverse. I organise several information meetings for students throughout the year and am involved in the open days of the UvA.
