In the context of the Visiting Professorship programme of the institutes of Physics and Astronomy of the UvA and the VU, Prof. Rohini Godbole of the Indian Institute of Science will visit Amsterdam for three months starting 1 September 2018. During this period, Prof. Godbole will also hold the Johannes Diderik van der Waals rotating chair established at the UvA.

Prof. Godbole is one of the most prominent particle phenomenologists of India, with extraordinarily broad scientific interests ranging from astroparticle physics and Beyond the Standard Model to hadronic physics, where she has written more than 250 papers.

Highly relevant

Physics at colliders has been one of the main focuses of her work during the past many years. She is also highly active in the issue of women in science, and has been an inspirational figure in that regard. The research interests of Prof. Godbole are highly relevant for Amsterdam academics working in the field of theoretical and experimental particle and astroparticle physics at the UvA, VU, and in Nikhef.

The Physics & Astronomy Visiting Professorship programme was started in 2017 and targets excellent academics with an outstanding research track record, well-recognised experts in some of the disciplines where the UvA and the VU are active. The selected scholars are expected to contribute to strengthening the scientific and academic activities of the Amsterdam physics and astronomy communities, as well as acting as inspiring role models to our student population.

If you would like to interact with Prof. Godbole, please contact her host, Prof. Eric Laenen.
